The Garden Perspective

I had the opportunity to frolic about my moms garden as the sun was rising. Everything had a mystical, ethereal quality. A little magic secret garden of sorts. I tried to capture the essence of this beautiful little world.

The Dead Ringer

June 4, 2011 § 3 Comments

Feet buried beneath earth – cemented.
Losing precious blood – heart shaped.
Wailing against the calloused skin walls.
Nails cracked from the scratching.
Bring us up.

Bodies rigid below the moon.
Sacred idols fallen.
Tears, gasps, hope – dry.
We know you’re listening.
Bring us up.

Numbness now below the earth.
The core devoid of warmth.
Chills on the nape as
Life is shuddering.
Bring us up.

Seeping souls where flowers bloom.
Airless lungs inside the tomb.
Ringing bell in graveyard shift.
The dead will rise if you are quick.

The shovels search in lanterns shadow
For those condemned too soon.
Bring us up from darkness seething.
Can’t you hear us screaming?

There are days still inside.
There are still days without.
Bring us up. Bring us up.
Bring us up.

When I shoot portraits I have people bring all sorts of things. Clothes, shoes, props.
I also have loads of my own props for people to choose from. It makes the shoot much more entertaining and we always seem to come up with ideas that probably never would have come about if all the props weren’t hanging around.

Masks are always popular and I love the way the photos turn out when people choose to wear them.

Here are a few of my friends wearing masks:

Ode to Abstraction

I’ve always had an affinity for the abstract. Occasionally I purposefully shoot out of focus to make the world around me nothing more than shapes and colors.

Where Am I?
