The Faces of Occupy Wall Street – Steven Green

“I am 26 years old. We’re pissed off cause we’re not happy. We need to be out here lifting the country up. Rather than tearing it down from the top we need to lift it up from the bottom. Money dies and eventually we destroy it but love continues forever. Pass on a gift of love, it moves through generations but money only gets to the bank and that’s where it stops. That’s where the buck stops.
I’ve been here a week and a half. Woke up on a Wednesday and said I think I need to go to California. I’m definitely here for a purpose. Hopefully to change the view of what’s going on. You need to get back to the community in order to change the government. We are the people. We’re holding up signs that say ‘We are the 99%’. I have to say I’m embarrassed that we’re letting the 1% control us. It’s really insanity in its truest form. You can almost compare it to psychosis. It doesn’t make any sense. Hopefully we’ll be the 99% that will do some change as opposed to the 1% who have all the money. I know people want change around here cause the homeless people keep asking me for it. I’m tired of feeding monetary change to everybody. Lets do some true change in the community. We’ve got to get people out on the street.
This is our country and we’re ready to tow it back. I’ve made a tow away sign. This is my place and I’m about to tow it back. One way. It’s amazing anyone can get around these streets because there’s only one way to go. That’s like with this movement. There’s only one way and it’s our way. We have to get the word out. We’re few in numbers right now. Yes we have other movements in different cities but we’re still the minority right now.
The older generation blames the younger generation for where the country is right now but it’s really their fault. They work for money and we’re really just ready to work for happiness. But we’ve got to start somewhere. With this movement we have built a strong foundation to truly create change.
